27-03-25
The School of Agricultural, Food and Biosystems Engineering (ETSIAAB) will host the fourth edition of the UPMMUN (UPM Model of United Nations) on April 4-6. The Opening Ceremony will be attended by Óscar García Suárez, rector of the UPM, and José Manuel Palacios, dean of the ETSAIAAB.
This initiative, accreditable with 2 ECTS, offers a unique chance to join technical training in the global context in an international and multicultural environment. Topics addressed at the UPMMUN are closely linked to technological development and innovation, blending the official rules of procedure of the United Nations to guide debates and agree on resolutions.
Participants will act as delegates at the UPMMUN, representing a country assigned within a United Nations committee to reach agreements on specific issues of international relevance.
In this edition, work will be carried out on four committees with the following topics:
- CSTD (United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development)
- Technology’s Role in Building Disaster Resilience and Climate Adaptation.
- Global Cooperation in Developing Clean Energy Technologies.
- FAO (Food and Agricultural Organization)
- Technological Innovation for Sustainable Agriculture.
- Climate-Smart Agriculture for Global Food Security.
- UNODA (United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs)
- Deepfakes and the Threat to Global Security.
- The Impact of Cyber Intelligence on Preventing International Conflicts.
- UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime)
- The Impact of Globalisation on Drug Trafficking Networks.
- The Impact of Globalisation on Drug Trafficking Networks.
This initiative, accreditable with 2 ECTS from the UPM general catalogue, offers a unique chance to join technical training in the global context in an international and multicultural environment.
Besides, UPMMUN is also part of the EELISA Alliance's catalogue of activities and is endorsed by the EELISA Ethics, Social Commitment & Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Food Production communities.
Since this activity will be conducted entirely in English and involve students from other universities of the EELISA Alliance, applicants must have good communication and negotiation skills in English, with a minimum level of B2.
